Verticalize or outsource?
"Verticalize" or outsource?
A classic question (that of the title) that also permeates contracting and efficient use of energy for companies and institutions.
Three emblematic examples.
Should a company buy a solar system to generate its own energy or contract energy (PPA) from an entrepreneur who invests and operates the solar system for a contracted term?
Contact suppliers and ask them to suggest what is best for your case or independently discover the alternatives to decide for the most interesting and convenient, weighing each one's advantages, disadvantages and associated risks?
Go for performance (structured) contracts involving efficient use of energy or do retrofits internally?
My preference, by far, is to "verticalize" knowledge and outsource solutions.
Clients who are keen to find out "what it is about" in order to make robust decision-making processes have the best results. Outsourcing solutions is potentially an excellent alternative but you must know very well what you want and what's at stake!
