The price of gas in Brazil

The situation is so stark that even the news on TV is bringing unsettling information, which has been going on for many years.

GloboNews showed a graph comparing the price of natural gas in USD/Million BTU.

United States 3
Great Britain 6
Brazil 12

Brazil s a country whose manufacturing industry is of "low added value" when compared to the developed ones.

It means that the main items that make up the composition of production costs matter a lot for their competitiveness. Energy is a Top 10 and is often Top 5.

The result - unfortunately: many products are now imported - as they are more competitive than those manufactured locally.

The GloboNews commentator exemplified that fertilizers are imported because the cost of gas makes them unfeasible for local manufacturing.
