...only what works!

...only what works!

Our cultural (Brazilian) profile has a peculiar characteristic, which makes advancing the economy and social welfare very challenging.

We have a predilection to only talk about what works.

Whoever governs always shows the deeds. The improvements achieved (real or so imagined).

We like to say that we are one of the 15 largest GDP in the world. We don't mention the fact that our GDP per ca-pita is in the 65th position. Even below the world average and therefore the vast majority is extremely poor.

We love to mention that electricity is universally consumed in the country. We prefer not to say that more than 10% is associated with "power theft".

We proudly speak of the Amazon as a strategic reserve that benefits the entire world. If no one asks, we will not inform that the forest, with deforestation and recurrent fires, is no longer a carbon absorber but an emitter.

And the list goes on.

It is a way of deceiving ourselves by maintaining a populist discourse. This is a prevalent attitude and for this very reason it has kept us, for centuries, as a laggard country.
