Two things. 1st, they are NOT oils sands. oil flows without treatment, they are TAR sands.  Call a spade a spade!  2nd they are and aways have been a bad idea and CO2 sequestration is even worse!

Mr. Baird,

Could you clarify a question from  someone who knows very little about the oil industry? Is it true in many shale formations, only a few percent of the oil locked in the formation is recoverable  If so, how is it possible to make reliable projections of total  oil production from a formation when an improvement  in technology could change the percent recoverable from say 2 or 3% to maybe 4 or 5%  rather quickly? Thank You.

Hi Jim:

Just wanted to make sure you have seen the 5 part series posted on the below website.

Thank you Jim.  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your family.

Now as far as the word “productive” goes; shouldn’t that be in some type of goal statement, LOL.  I still believe that a solar thermal enhance Ocean Thermal Energy System [OTES] has promise.

Have a wonderful 2014.  Will not be posting much between now and the new year.
