There is certainly room in the lithium-ion battery market for a design that offers substantially higher energy density than standard LiIon batteries, and the first subject of this post, NanoGraf, certainly offers that.

This post will also explore several new battery technologies that will allow the optimization of various lithium-ion (a.k.a. LiIon) battery components. The overall goal is to end up with a family of these batteries that are both safer, less expensive, and have better performance.

There are so many great batteries chemistries and designs that this should only takexa year or so from solid state to graphine to sodium ion. They are are good and seem to improve very fast. The 4680 from Tesla is already out and getting better. Longer life and less cost may be the answer for every day vehicles. The trucks with huge battery packs and 1,000 miles needs may take a bit longer.
