How green is the Brazilian power matrix?

How green is the Brazilian power matrix?
The significant increase in the share of wind energy and the potential for solar energy growth brings new challenges too!
I refer to the power production per month of 1 kW of installed nominal capacity. It is of the order of 50% for wind and 20% for solar. As a reference, the hydroelectric power is around 70%.
The independent system operator needs to readily make capacity available whenever the source in question requires it. To illustrate, the solar demands- at the end of the day - a fast transition that has presented a significant additional cost for those countries that have made this source "massive". It is the "duck curve".
This discussion is not new. It has been referred to as "capacity x energy". The increased use of wind and solar sources tend to increase the demand for capacity. This is a cost that needs to be recognized and allocated!

The Energy Central Power Industry Network is based on one core idea - power industry professionals helping each other and advancing the industry by sharing and learning from each other.
If you have an experience or insight to share or have learned something from a conference or seminar, your peers and colleagues on Energy Central want to hear about it. It's also easy to share a link to an article you've liked or an industry resource that you think would be helpful.
