Energy companies: shares & values
How do the shares of companies in the Brazilian electric sector compare with American ones?
CEMIG and NEXTERA are large companies, renowned in their countries - one of the most important in the Brazilian electric sector and another in the American. Both traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
In five years, those who invested in CEMIG obtained an increase of 22%. Those who invested in NEXTERA obtained 180%. NEXTERA greatly increased revenues and profits. Generated value! CEMIG stayed well behind.
Where is the catch?
The explanation is simple and has to do with the country's business environment, with the stability of regulations, respect for contracts, metrics used to evaluate companies' performance, the professionalism of their executives and directors, creativity and initiative and above all the legitimate interest in offering valuable solutions to customers.
We urgently need to learn from those who show consistent results!
