The challenge of sources - energy matrix (Brazil)

The challenge of sources - energy matrix (Brazil)

Each client (residential, business or institutional) contracts the energy source they want. The choice depends, of course, on the price, conditions and the perception of the associated image, especially with respect to sustainability.

Thus, it is up to the independent system operator to dispatch the power plants (according to cost merit primarily).

It means that - in a holistic look-  it is not "just" the specific source that each one chooses but the whole of the matrix that is dispatched to serve the market.

So, the emissions to be considered, the sustainability that is so dear to so many people, must be evaluated "as a whole". Example: a photo-voltaic system does not produce energy at night. Therefore, the emissions to be considered are those of the energy matrix that enters to serve the customer.
