A Carbon Sequestration Project Conceived Of In 2016 Is Finally Off The Rails

Carbon capture and sequestration can use depleted natural gas and oil reservoirs as sites for storing compressed CO2 collected from emitters. The Porthos Project is the first of its kind in Europe aimed at gathering and storing 2.5 Megatons annually and 37 Megatons over the 15 year life of the project. The network and compressor technology can be expanded to incorporate other emitters and future identified storage sites beneath the North Sea.
