The Anthropocene Has Created A New Disease: Plasticosis
A recent study on plastic pollution notes that the average adult ingests 50,000 microplastic particles annually. Children ingest 40,000. The health threat from this exposure in humans is unknown but one of growing concern in light of a study of seabirds that has identified microplastic ingestion with a newly named and potentially fatal disease: Plasticosis.

Plasticosis or Plastic-Induced Fibrotic Disease has been discovered in seabirds caused by ingesting microplastic pollution. Microplastic pollution is a byproduct of the fossil fuel age.
