I was planning to write a post on this topic but decided to link to an existing article instead. No one knows why methane emissions have risen since 2007 and this could be cause for concern since it could hamper efforts to reach Paris Climate agreement goals. (Even the Green New Deal referred to this problem and said it could not stop cows from farting.) Meanwhile, methane abatement efforts also promise a slew of new jobs. The Methane Leak and Detection Repair (LDAR) industry repairs leaks at oil fields and other industries that release methane. A 2017 report from Datu Research stated that the industry had experienced 30% growth in states with methane regulations. That figure could become significantly higher with "regulatory direction at the federal and state levels."
