Tri-State is closing coal plants and replacing the lost generation with 1GW of new renewables.
Expect to see more of these announcements from Western US utilities as most of the remaining 26 GW of coal capacity across the region closes by 2030 and is replaced by wind, solar/storage.
It will take about 60GW of new wind and solar capacity over the next decade to accomplish this - about 6GW of new projects/yr.
