The UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has emphasised how significant hydrogen could be in decarbonising society.

According to HyNews, Boris Johnson recently referenced hydrogen as “the low carbon fuel that has perhaps the greatest potential of all” in an article in The Telegraph clearly indicating the British government’s stance on the clean energy carrier.

With an emphasis made on hydrogen it could see further investment and political frameworks put in place to support hydrogen’s adoption in the UK.

The need to decarbonise has never been greater and not only does hydrogen provide an opportunity for the UK to reduce its overall carbon emissions in hard-to-abate sectors but also could help transition away from a reliance on Russian fossil fuel and gas imports.

This has also been recognised by the European Commission with the organisation revealing an increase of hydrogen targets in a bid to increase investment and innovation in the energy sector.
