Worldwide electricity generation from coal is expected to decrease by 3% in 2019, the largest drop on record, according to Carbon Brief. The biggest reductions are taking place in the US, as several large coal-fired power plant are scheduled to close. In addition. India’s coal power output is expected to fall for the first time in at least three decades, and there has been a flattening of China’s coal generation growth. Do the numbers surprise you?
