Power to X | Pathways

The production, transport and supply costs of key Powerto-X products for the year 2030. 1 A total of 39 globally distributed regions in developing and emerging countries were therefore analyzed in terms of their renewables and Power-to-X production and supply cost potential.

The comprehensive technoeconomic results presented are based on extensive country analyses regarding their renewables generation potential, identification of promising regions, and holistic simulations and optimization of Power-to-X production and supply pathways for each of the identified locations.

The main focus was on the analysis of the renewable electricity generation costs in these countries and subsequently a detailed design and simulationbased optimization of Power-to-X chains for the production of green hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and jet fuel. For the import scenarios, the long-distance transport of green energy carriers to Germany was considered either in the form of ocean-going vessels or hydrogen pipelines.
