Offshore Wind and Hydrogen | Louisiana
Â
The community may be interested in an update on the Gulf of Mexico and the state of Louisiana?
Amidst the significant activity around the US, offshore wind and hydrogen it must be remembered that a few short years ago no one was talking about. Indeed one of my articles, caused incredulity when I shared it - with questioning of whether this was really occurring.Â
One unintended consequence was the rekindling of my long-standing relationship with Boem with whom I had spent a week at their Stirling HQ. They invited me into key sessions - enabling me to share some of the content with you.
The American system is organic and smart in that states have to show a political demand that they want to get involved with the sector. If they are keen then they can approach the consenting body, Boem, who can guide them through the process.
For all the current talk around the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston and Houston, it was actually from Baton Rouge and their Governor Edwards who initiated the process with his stressing the ‘working ’ history and nature of the coast off the state of Louisiana.
This request formally initiated the process of seeing whether there's any possibility of offshore wind and latterly hydrogen for the Gulf of Mexico.  This proactive start was acknowledged at one of the most recent and Boem sessions with formal recognition of their role.
Louisiana hasn’t rested on her laurels and continues to progress:Â
and I thought that community might be interested in a number of recent studies emanating from that state,
Â
including the one that we see on the image of the clickable link to the and discussion paper above so well done to them for initiating the Gulf of Mexico process and for maintaining momentum.
