"Natural Gas, the darling energy source of the millennia, has decided it needs to take down its biggest competitor – nuclear power.

"The American Petroleum Institute has flooded the airwaves in Ohio and Pennsylvania with anti-nuke commercials by pushing fear – fear of higher prices and fear of radiation. Just the opposite of what is true.

"This is ironic since the natural gas industry emits more radioactivity than all of nuclear in America combined. And more people die every year from natural gas than any other electricity source except coal."

API is at it again, showering Ohioans and Pennsylvanians with propaganda (above) to kill nuclear energy - and fast - so it can be replaced by dirty fossil fuel power.

Though the oil industry group is labeling Ohio's landmark SB 6 legislation a "nuclear bailout", it offers all zero-carbon sources of energy the same subsidy - including renewables. Yet solar and wind groups have joined together with the American Petroleum Institute against SB 6. Why? Because they're up against an affordable, carbon-free, reliable source of electricity, and it will put them all out of business.

Long overdue, it's the time for natural gas, solar, and wind to take their ball and go home.
