Multi-microgrid for the Overpopulated Urban Centers in Asia and Latin America

The overpopulated urban centers across underdeveloped or developing third world, has resulted in a  serious fall out of the urbanised Asia and Latin America. The emerging global warming and the sudden weather changes has expedited the collapse of the traditional grid as well as the contemporary models. I propose a new model where the traditional main grid is transformed to locally inspired multi-microgrid models as per the dynamics of the unplanned urbanised centers across Asia and Latin America. For example, the slums of Karachi and Bombay can not be catered through contemporary western microgrid or main grid models. Same is true about the Rio and other megacities across Latin America.

I would think this isn't that controversial of an opinion-- the microgrid model can be cheaper and quicker to start bringing up, and later on if you wan to connect them in a more centralized grid then that's possible. Is this really not yet in the cards for leaders to put in place today?

This is a typical developing world example where evolution is preceded by disruption. The main grid has not fully evolved here as vast swath of rural areas are without it. The developing countries can not meet the basic necessities  of growing population here. It is not that simple.

Yes this is true, however implementing such a strategy requires a significant amount of planning and optimizing the system design. This is the reason Brightmerge (www.brightmerge.com) was founded since there is a universal need to redesign/rebuild the grid to enable "least cost", reliable and renewable electricity to flow.

Great.

There are 02 aspects to science and engineering, sir.

1. FORMAL

When things move in a formal way as university-industry academia collaboration synergies to bear the fruit, benefitting general public, as can be seen in the developed west.

2. DISRUPTIVE

In this case, the chaos and disruption meets mother nature in the middle of the journey and shakes hands in odd ways. This is reminiscent in developing world. 

Next, the promusers won't see the natural evolution where the Western model of the microgrid or the smart grid will replace the traditional  grid. 

Here is what i foresee. 

1. Collapsing main grid

2. Emergence of RE disruption for individual customer

3. Copy cat act by consumers around

4.   A random spread of neo network

5. Repeat of 1 to 4
