Hydrogen has been around as an energy carrier for centuries and the idea of using salt caverns for seasonal gas storage is not new either. Here opportunities for them to combine are explored. One of the reasons why the English county of Cheshire is so well placed to be a hydrogen hub is because of the many miles of underground salt caverns for hydrogen storage.
