Emissions proposal
I present for consideration an approach aimed at making environmental issues central to vehicle design criteria.
The metric would be the cost of total emissions, from manufacturing to the end of the vehicle's life.
It is known internationally as life cycle emissions cost.
If there were a regulatory requirement that adequately established this metric, automakers would need to create vehicles that were truly "cleaner."
The consequence would be a change of paradigms. Instead of large, heavy and "wasteful" "cars", they would be designed with a lot of creativity, focusing on comfort but super compact, light, extremely energy efficient.
Vehicles are and will continue to be one of the biggest sources of emissions on the planet. I believe that the time has come to do something that changes the level of vehicle emissions.
Much has already been done. But little in relation to what we need to avoid the catastrophes announced by meteorologists.
