While not surprising, this does highlight that energy needs globally are outpacing our transition towards cleaner energy sources. While coal plants are not typically thought of as "peaking" plants, it appears that in some instances, they will do just that. Notably, even with these planned installations, peak coal consumption in China is expected to be reached sometime in the next few years.
