All-electric 'Seaglider' will island-hop to boost Hawaii connectivity

A new state initiative in Hawaii supports bringing zero-emissions crafts on high-priority routes as early as 2025. The Hawaii Seaglider Initiative (HSI) connects public agencies with private companies like seaglider-maker REGENT Craft and airline operator Mokulele Airlines- Hawaii and California Operations. Regent's flagship seaglider, the Viceroy, accommodates 12 passengers and operates solely over water, seamlessly transitioning between three modes: hull, hydrofoil, and ground effect flight, with a 160 nautical mile (184 miles) range utilizing current battery technology, which is expandable to over 400 nautical miles (460 miles) with advanced batteries. Propelled by underwater wings after takeoff, the vessels combine yacht-like buoyancy with aircraft flexibility to fly 30 feet above the waves. Initial studies show locals may pay only $30 for trips. Amazing technology!
