Africa Single Electricity Market AfSEM has been Launched by the AUC Chairperson Mousa Mahamat Faki, ably represented by the Deputy Chairperson of the AUC. Also in attendance were the AUC Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, EU Commissioner for Energy, Vice President of the AfDB, the CEO, AUDA-NEPAD, Ministers for Energy/Electricity, and representatives from the 55 AU Member States, African Energy institutions and Stakeholders, International organizations among others. The first phase of Implementation is expected to be achieved by 2025. EU is supporting the AfSEM policy and strategic planning formation and also the first phase of implementation, under the EU-TAF a project being managed by Stantec.
