Predicting and presenting the trends after Covid - 19 pandemic lockdown and unlock down is tough. This is an attempt to present the areas where the focus will be for the year 2021.  Digitization will help the utility and energy industry for Energy 4.0 features. Energy 4.0 features are distributed energy resources, intelligent energy, asset monitoring, Machine learning-based analytics, smart metering,  micro-grid controllers, predictive maintenance, and AI-based energy generation. Smart energy will be another area that will be used for predicting the solar energy industry outputs. Robotics and Drones will be used in renewable energy companies for investigations and audits.  Solar Energy and Wind Energy plants will also use Drones for finding the destroyed areas and assess the inciden

Hardware costs might come down in the utility industry. Solar Batteries will be the focus of the solar storage market. New storage forms such as flowing battering are evolving. Rooftop solar will be the trend in 2021. 2021 will help to transform the utility and energy industry because of the net-zero greenhouse gas emissions initiative.  Clean and Green energy is another initiative that will be a trend this year. Electric grid through charging infrastructure and electric service providers will be popular because of electric vehicles. Convergence is expected between transportation, construction, and utility industries. The trends will emerge this year because of the convergence. These trends are related to regulatory landscape consolidation, new economy creation, battery business model creation, new entrants, scaling up, and fortification of disaster readiness.

Solutions that will be developed are the workforce remote operations platform and digital workforce software. Decarbonization and digital strategies will help the convergence of the energy and utility industries. Sustainability trends that will come up in 2021 are energy consumption reduction, energy production changes, plant-based foods demand increase, fast fashion decline, bold climate commitments from enterprises, popular carbon-negative campaigns, big technology leap, green micro-grids, and water conservation initiatives.
