The supreme court decided on VAT tax on the power bill

A decision by the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court determined the exclusion of the VAT tax on the demand charges.

Decades after this issue was raised, it finally looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

In the 1980's I was hired to base a lawsuit asking for and refunding the VAT charged on the demand in the account of a large Brazilian petrochemical company.

With this understanding, I hope that "quickly" the concessionaires will be instructed to only charge the VAT on the energy portion.

For industry and commerce, the non-collection of VAT on the demand should reduce the monthly bill by about 5%. It is 60% of a monthly bill per year!
