In 1992, Nicor Services was launched as a sister company to Nicor Gas in suburban Chicago. It was born from the request of customers to cover their interior gas lines that were not supported by Nicor Gas, the gas utility. The business grew quickly by offering inspections and repairs to interior gas lines during move and turn on calls as well as traditional marketing methods. As the popularity of the gas line product rose, additional warranty plans were offered to include other utility lines such as electric, media, water, and sewer as well as appliances and HVAC, until customers could protect their whole home.
Our home is in the utility industry and has been from the start. We don’t just serve utilities, we are their partners and their family. We have a unique understanding of utilities that other warranty companies cannot match. As a result of focusing on utility partnerships as our preferred market for the growth of our warranty business, Pivotal has over 25 years’ experience in planning and executing system integrations that support third party billing with utilities. The ability to bill warranty charges on the utility bill itself enables us to strengthen our relationship with our partners, provide convenient payment for our shared customers, and to improve the customer experience of the utility customer.
